Steelers vs Patriots

Seven months on from winning a sixth Super Bowl in two decades, the New England Patriots begin their title defense against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

No team has won consecutive Super Bowls since the Patriots went back-to-back in 2003 and 2004, and New England faces an uphill task to replicate the feat.

At the same time, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have routinely proved they can achieve what seems beyond their reach.

Brady turned 42 early last month and is set to continue his personal duel with Father Time for another year. However, he will do so without one of his favorite offensive weapons, after Rob Gronkowski retired.

The Patriots, who are looking to extend their NFL record of 10 consecutive playoff appearances, also waved goodbye to defensive end Trey Flower and receivers Cordarrelle Patterson and Chris Hogan.

The pair have been replaced by Demaryius Thomas and Cameron Meredith, who join Julian Edelman, Philip Dorsett and Josh Gordon in the receiving corps.

Gordon could be an influential figure in Week 1, as he has more receptions and receiving yards against Pittsburgh than any other team.

The Steelers went 9-6-1 last season but missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013, as the off-field drama surrounding Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown threatened to unravel the franchise from the inside.

Bell has since moved to the New York Jets, while Brown has taken his shenanigans to the Oakland Raiders.

The Steelers might have lost two Pro Bowl talents, but coach Mike Tomlin hopes it proves to be a case of addition by subtraction.

Running back James Conner has welcomed the new drama-free version of the Steelers.

What to Know
New England and Pittsburgh will face off at 8:20 p.m. ET Sept. 8 at Gillette Stadium to kick off their 2019 seasons. New England was 11-5 last season and, of course, capped off the postseason with a 13-3 victory over the Rams in the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh was not at the top of the league last year, but they wrapped up the year with a winning record of 9-6-1.

A pair of last-season defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Patriots were second in rushing touchdowns allowed, finishing the 2018 season giving up only seven. As for Pittsburgh, they ranked first in the league in sacks, closing the season with 52 overall. We’ll find out if either of these strengths ends up making the difference in the contest.

New England has the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency. These early season matchups can go either way as both teams get back into playing shape.

Giants vs Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys will begin their 2019 season and quest for a sixth Lombardi this Sunday against who else but the New York Giants. Sunday marks the sixth time in the last eight seasons these storied rivals will face one another to kickoff the season.

Player contract negotiations have dominated Cowboys offseason storylines with new contracts for DeMarcus Lawrence, Jaylon Smith, La’el Collins, and it was capped off with Ezekiel Elliott returning to the team after signing a six-year, $90 million dollar extension, the richest ever for a running back.

The Giants come into AT&T Stadium looking nothing like what we’re accustomed to over the recent seasons. Gone is Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon, having both been traded to the Cleveland Browns in an absolute roster decimation over the offseason. It’s certainly clear the Giants are in a transition stage, fully evidenced with the selection of quarterback Daniel Jones sixth overall in the 2019 draft. Though longtime-starter Eli Manning remains the starting quarterback, it’s clear he’s playing on borrowed time.

What to Know

On the other hand, Dallas is coming off a 10-6 season with hopes of advancing further than the second round of the playoffs, where they were eliminated by the Rams 22-30.

Since the experts predict a loss, the Giants will need to dig deep. We’ll soon see whether they can make the experts look bad.

49ers vs Buccaneers

The San Francisco 49ers officially return to real football today! The preseason is a wrap and we are back to regular season football for the first time in over eight months. The 49ers get things going this afternoon at 1:25 P.M. when they head to Raymond James Stadium to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The game will air on FOX as a regional broadcast. Kenny Albert and Ronde Barber will be calling the game.

The 49ers ride into the season with way less momentum than last year. Now that everyone is healthy, they can try this winning football thing again. They already have some issues, namely the loss of running back Jerick McKinnon to more knee issues and Nick Bosa is still a question mark on just how healthy he is.

The Buccaneers have made some changes. They fired Dirk Koetter and brought in former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians. Fired New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles is serving as Arians’ defensive coordinator and just those two names mean an improved Buccaneers offense.

The 49ers will be without wide receivers Jalen Hurd, Trent Taylor, and safety Jimmie Ward. The Buccaneers will be without safety Justin Evans and quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Wide receiver Mike Evans was questionable due to an illness, but is expected to play.

Who’s Playing
Tampa Bay (home) vs. San Francisco (away)
Last Season Records: Tampa Bay 5-11-0; San Francisco 4-12-0;

What to Know
San Francisco and Tampa Bay will face off at 4:25 p.m. ET Sept. 8 at Raymond James Stadium to kick off their 2019 seasons. Coming off of an uninspired 4-12 last-season record, San Francisco has set their aspirations higher this season. Likewise, last year was nothing to brag about for Tampa Bay (5-11), so the squad is looking forward to a new start.

A couple last-season defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The 49ers ranked second worst with respect to passing touchdowns allowed last year, where the team gave up 35. Tampa Bay ranked worst with respect to touchdowns allowed last season, where the team gave up 53. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.

The point spread is more or less neutral, so fans should expect a close contest. We’ll see if the game is as close as the oddsmakers expect, or if one of these teams has a surprise blowout in them.

Bengals vs Seahawks

It is finally time for the Bengals to play actual football. This season has included some extra anticipation for fans as we eagerly wait to see the impact that new head coach Zac Taylor will have on the team during his first season.

The main thing fans will be looking for is how the running game will function after struggling during the preseason. Coaches said they still have a few wrinkles that should open it up for running backs in the regular season, and just having the inclusion of Mixon should help. It still was rough to watch running backs have no room to run all preseason.

The defense will also look to improve this season after being one of the worst in all of the NFL last season. New defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo has simplified things, which has players excited to get back to focusing on doing their job and not what their opponent is doing.

The Seahawks provide a great litmus test for the start of Taylor’s era. They have been a consistent playoff team since Russell Wilson has become their quarterback, and they spent the offseason reloading their pass rush. If the Bengals are able to keep up with them, then it is a pretty good sign for where this team could be headed.

Who’s Playing
Seattle (home) vs. Cincinnati (away)

Last Season Records: Seattle 10-6-0; Cincinnati 6-10-0;

What to Know
Seattle and Cincinnati are opening their 2019 seasons against one another at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday at CenturyLink Field. Seattle is coming off a 10-6 season with hopes of advancing further than the first round of the playoffs, where they were eliminated by Dallas 22-24. On the other hand, last year was nothing to brag about for Cincinnati (6-10), so the squad is looking forward to a new start.

A couple last-season defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Seahawks were fourth in rushing touchdowns allowed, finishing the 2018 season giving up only nine. Less enviably, Cincinnati ranked worst with respect to yards allowed per game last year, where the team gave up 413.6 on average. So…the Cincinnati squad has its work cut out for it.

Seattle has the odds in their favor, so they’ll need to guard against complacency. A win is hardly a sure thing, especially this early in the season, so expect a good game.

Here’s what you need to know to watch the Seahawks face off against the Bengals:

Titans vs Browns

Welcome to watch Titans vs Browns Live Streaming NFL 2019 regular week 1 Game tonight. How to watch Browns vs Titans football game Online.

Watch Titans vs Browns Live

Titans vs Browns

Outside of Tennessee, people aren’t going to be watching Sunday’s Browns vs. Titans matchup for Marcus Mariota. Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield wowed the NFL during his rookie season, and the offseason hype machine has been building up 2019 as a turning point for the long-beleaguered Browns. Now that Cleveland has acquired all-star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland has the most anticipated QB/WR tandem in the NFL.

For the Titans, it is a different story. Mariota has never quite proven himself as an elite talent, and even optimistic fans are beginning the season wondering what exactly they have to look forward to.

The Titans will be particularly weak to start the season, because one of the team’s few standouts, left tackle Taylor Lewan, will be serving a four-game suspension. Hopefully, the Titans offense will still be able to make room for Derrick Henry to run, as he was the bright spot of the offense late last season. An aging Delanie Walker will also have to contribute at tight end if the Titans are going to stay competitive. A solid secondary likely won’t be enough for the Titans to keep up with this Browns squad.

Pass rush is a big liability for Tennessee, so if this game is anything less than a coming-out party for the Browns, it will be a disappointment. The Browns have five offensive players on their roster who produced more than 500 yards last year, and if the Titans defense gives Mayfield as much time as analysts expect, it could be a long day for Tennessee.

Who’s Playing
Cleveland (home) vs. Tennessee (away)

Last Season Records: Cleveland 7-8-1; Tennessee 9-7-0;

What to Know
Tennessee and Cleveland will face off at 1 p.m. ET Sept. 8 at FirstEnergy Stadium to kick off their 2019 seasons. Tennessee was not at the top of the league last season, but they wrapped up the season with a winning record of 9-7. Meanwhile, Cleveland struggled last year, ending up 7-8-1.

A couple last-season defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Titans were second in touchdowns allowed, finishing the 2018 season giving up only 30. Less enviably, Cleveland ranked second worst with respect to rushing touchdowns allowed last year, where the squad gave up 20. The good news for Cleveland, of course, is that these forces working against them might not carry over into the new season.

The Tennessee sideline is surely aware that they’re the underdogs in this one. Perhaps they’ll be able to flip the script and come out with a big win.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs this afternoon in Week 1 of the 2019 NFL season — it’ll be a heck of an opener with an offensive runaway locomotive speeding towards a defensive stone wall.

Stay with us all through the afternoon as we live blog the game as it happens, and feel free to join the conversation in the comments as the day progresses. We’ll have postgame coverage as well following the conclusion of the game.

Here’s all the analysis, angles, and information you need for the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars in the season opener for both teams. Here we go. A real Kansas City Chiefs football game with real results will be played on Sunday afternoon, and the long-awaited return of the NFL is upon us. For all of the roster changes Brett Veach has made, he’ll finally get to see them together on the field for the first time in Jacksonville against the Jaguars.

For the Chiefs, this is supposed to be the first step toward the Lombardi Trophy. The team will be focused just one week at a time, but there’s no denying that anything less than a Super Bowl appearance—and perhaps a victory—will be a disappointment. The Jags’ defense is a nice first test and a road win would set up the schedule well through September.

The Baltimore Ravens have revamped their offense. In a good way. The Miami Dolphins have revamped their team. In a bad way. The Ravens and Dolphins meet on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, CBS, DirecTV) in the Week 1 regular season opener for both teams.

The Ravens (10-6 in 2018) have restructured their offense to take advantage of the skills of second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson is known more for his running (695 yards, five touchdowns) than passing (1,395 yards, eight touchdowns, four interceptions) while starting in eight games including the playoffs. The hope is Jackson has improved his passing during a full offseason, training camp and preseason work.

The Dolphins (7-9 in 2018) claim they aren’t tanking the 2019 season, but it sure looks as if they are. They traded veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Houston Texans last week. First-year coach Brian Flores named journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback.

The 2019 NFL season is finally here, and the Falcons open up with a trip to Minnesota to face the Vikings. Both teams enter the year with playoff aspirations after missing the postseason in 2018, and the Falcons and Vikings look like two of the most talented NFC teams on paper.

Atlanta and Minnesota are opening their 2019 seasons against one another at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
